Wheel Hop de Bob...what is a wheel hop?

Wheel hop...wheel hop...wheel hop...I keep hearing it, so I had to look it up.

Definition: An undesirable suspension characteristic in which a wheel (or several) moves up and down so violently that it actually leaves the ground. Wheel hop can be caused by many problems, including excessive unsprung weight, insufficient shock damping, or poor torsional axle control.

Hmmmm... okay...

Can also be caused under hard braking on road courses where you're changing down to 1st gear into the turn. As you drop the clutch, the engine momentarily stalls as the wheel leaves the ground it fires, hits the ground, stalls, etc... leaving a dotted black stripe from the rear end. Moving more brake bias to the front end helps (as I've found out with my own car on road courses)
